Scott McGarvey
Senior ConsultantScott McGarvey has 18 years’ experience in consulting and industry. His areas of focus include acquisition search and due diligence, post-merger integration, start-up ventures, new and re-positioned product lines, and integrated marketing through multiple channels.
Scott works with clients to plan and execute a fact-based process for strategic mergers and acquisitions:
- Building a knowledge base encompassing market assessment, customer needs analysis, business environment, competitive vulnerabilities, and industry benchmarking
- Conducting a thorough search for strategic merger or acquisition candidates
- Interviewing company management, owners, employees, customers and partners
- Preparing in-depth operational due diligence
- Estimating fair market value and assessing investment risk
Scott doesn’t stop when the deal is done. He works with clients post-transaction to achieve profitable growth through –
- Building powerful channels of distribution under integrated branding
- Reaching high-potential customers with compelling themes and messages that uniquely position the enterprise in a competitive marketplace
- Accelerating sales to maximize the performance of producers, streamline the sales pipeline and build enduring customer relationships
Scott’s recent clients include several major finance sector companies – Liberty Mutual Insurance, GMAC Residential Funding Corporation, Royal&SunAlliance, Experian, and Heller Financial (now part of GE Capital). Scott has also served closely held middle market enterprises in a variety of industries that include professional liability insurance, wireless broadband services, outsourced third-party fulfillment, and tax abatement consulting.
Prior to 1992, Scott was industrial marketing manager for six years with Landis&Gyr Powers, a major manufacturer/installer of building control systems. In his early career, Scott was affiliated with the M&A and litigation consulting practices of Price Waterhouse and Chase Econometrics.
Scott earned his M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago in 1981. He is active and holds leadership positions in the Business Marketing Association, Chicago Association of Direct Marketing, Association for Corporate Growth, and National Funding Association. He also heads the Chicago GSB Marketing Roundtable and is VP Membership with the Chicago GSB Club, a business and social organization for Chicago-area alumni.
